When you extend an invitation to your closest friends to become a wedding attendant, you want to do this with all your heart. You want to do this knowing fully that those amazing women will be there for you and that they will support you throughout the planning process, throughout the wedding day, and beyond.
Unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned and you might find yourself in the situation of having choose a bridesmaid you don’t want in your bridal party any longer.
What happens then? Is there any way you can officially revoke someone’s role as a bridesmaid?
We have some tips for you – keep reading and find out more.
· Yes, you can do this. It goes against etiquette, but you can revoke someone’s role in your wedding party. For instance, if you realized that you don’t know them enough, you can have an open discussion with them and tell them that you would like your wedding party to be comprised of intimate friends. It might be an awkward discussion, but if you are not fully comfortable with that person, there’s a pretty good chance they aren’t comfortable with their role either!
· Furthermore, if you have a very good friend who wants to be your bridesmaid but realizes that she has a lot of obligations or that the distance between the two of you is making it difficult for her to fulfill her tasks as a bridesmaid, you can revoke her role as well. Of course, this should be a candid discussion, rather than a fight!
· Before you rescind someone’s role as a bridesmaid, think twice: is the awkward conversation worth it? Would it really be that bad to have them in your wedding party? Is it worth the drama? If you feel that there is no actual trouble, it might be easier to leave things as they are.
· If you do decide to remove someone from the wedding party, consider offering them a different role – such as helping with the wedding programs or giving a reading. They might in turn be more comfortable with these roles!
