Please note, this blog was written in 2016. This month (September 2023), Mt. Evans was just renamed to Mt. Blue Sky. All references to Mt. Evans refer to Mt. Blue Sky.
Today, we decided to take a little break and head up the street just a little ways! We drove to the summit of Mount Evans! Chicago Creek Road, the road we so happen to be located on, connects with THE highest paved road in the United States. This road will take you all the way up 14,000 feet where you can sit and bask in the miraculous beauty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains!
We thoroughly enjoyed our drive today. It so happened to be National Outdoors Day, and boy did we get out! We took our time and stopped to see the most beautiful scenery, and ran into some mountain goats along the way. Not only are there goats, but there are many other furry, cute little creatures enjoying the amazing weather we had! It was a really wonderful time and I loved every second of it! Not only did I get good photos and a good blog out of it (which is always good), but I also got some really wonderful family memories!
All of us at Blackstone Rivers Ranch HIGHLY SUGGEST to our couples to take full advantage of our location and what it offers. If you’re looking for some truly amazing wedding photos, heading up the road to Echo Lake and Mount Evans will make for some pretty spectacular and memorable photos! Especially if you’re going to be getting married in June, July or August. Most of the snow is melted (and headed down to our lovely creek). You’ll get some wonderful green views. Just remember to dress for the weather. Because we sure didn’t….Brrr! Or, if you want to do something active to do before or after your wedding, we have a hiking trail right in our backyard that leads all the way up to Mount Evans. If you feel like making the trek, it’s all here for you to take advantage of. Get married, stay in our Claim Jumper Cabin, and then start your trek! For our active couples, it could make for a wonderful honeymoon activity!
