Should You Hire a Day-Of Coordinator or Go Full-Service? A Venue’s Perspective

Updated: Apr 11

Planning a wedding comes with a million decisions, and one of the most important is choosing the right level of planning support. At our venue, we require all couples to hire a professional planner from our approved list. These planners know our space, our flow, and exactly what it takes to make your day smooth from start to finish.

Each planner offers different packages—some offer day-of coordination, others full-service planning, and many offer something in between. So, how do you decide what’s best for you?

Day-of coordination typically begins about 4–6 weeks before your wedding. Your planner will step in to confirm vendor details, create your timeline, run your rehearsal, and manage the wedding day itself. This is the minimum level of support we require. It’s perfect for couples who have already done most of the planning and just need a professional to make sure it all comes together.

On the other hand, full-service planning means your planner is with you from the beginning. They help with vendor selection, budgeting, design, scheduling, and every other detail. If you’re planning from out of town, short on time, or just want an expert guiding the process, full-service is a great investment.

Most of our planners also offer custom or partial planning options, so there’s flexibility based on your needs and budget.

From our perspective, having a professional planner is non-negotiable—because even the best plans can unravel without someone there to execute them. Your planner keeps everything and everyone on track, so you (and your guests) can actually enjoy the celebration. The right fit is out there, and they’ll make all the difference.
